MY SCALP PLANT

🌾 Jojoba

Give it oil and it thrives — hardy jojoba, at home in dry lands.

What this looks like

· Dry and dull, but not reactive
· Long-term harsh cleansers make the tightness worse
· Switching to moisture-first products improves things quickly

Ingredients to pick

Ingredients to avoid

The right pH

Recommended · Mildly acidic to neutral (pH 5–7)
Just avoid harsh alkaline cleansing. Humectants matter more than pH for you.

· A healthy scalp sits around pH 4.5–5.5, but mildly acidic isn't automatically the best shampoo.

· Most products already fall between pH 4 and 7, which supports the scalp's natural acidity — not being 'pH-balanced' doesn't make a shampoo harsh, and being acidic doesn't make it gentler.

Checklist

Swap strong sulfates for mild cleansers
Look for humectants in the top half of the list
Keep conditioners on the hair, not the scalp
